Academic Coaching & Tutoring

When a student works individually with a dedicated, energetic, and effective teacher, amazing things can happen. At A Way To Learn, students benefit from individualized instruction delivered by a highly trained and certified teacher who recognizes and respects your child’s learning style, resulting in increased self-confidence, and a boost in both academic and social skills.

Executive Functioning

Students who struggle with executive function disorders have difficulty planning, executing, managing, and self regulating both cognitive and social behaviors. At A Way to Learn, an executive coach will work with your child on an individual program which will address your child’s specific needs as we work with their current school curriculum, address social problem solving, and provide intensive executive training.

Standardized Test Preparation: SAT/ACT/ISEE/SSAT

Standardized test scores can open doors to life’s opportunities; however, these tests can be challenging, especially for students with learning disabilities. Inattention, executive dysfunction, and NVLD can all artificially and unfairly deflate these critical test scores. However, everyone deserves a fair chance and a level playing field as they pursue their college dreams.

Academic Tutoring

Students and parents participate in an interview and assessment process, allowing our team to target specific areas of need and build a program that celebrates your child’s strengths, as we work on the areas that are most difficult for them.

Although we believe there are many things that make our program special and worth celebrating, we are particularly proud of our collaborative efforts with families, schools, psychologists, and any professional that work with your child. By building these bridges of communication, we provide a supportive environment which promotes success both in school and at home.

“The learning specialists at A Way to Learn are highly skilled, dedicated and caring teachers. In the past few months, the teachers have helped my son significantly improve his organizational, math and writing skills. They inspire and encourage him to work hard and do his best at every session. I can’t thank them enough!!!”

Executive Functioning

We help students understand that hard work and excessive number of hours spent studying will not result in academic success. Using effective strategies combined with hard work is what will enable students to bypass the impact of their executive functioning difficulties. Learning HOW to learn is what will have the greatest impact.
Our sessions focus on the following key executive functioning skills:
● Attention and Emotional Regulation
● Initiation and Inhibition
● Goal Setting
● Planning and Organization
● Flexibility
● Working Memory
● Self Regulatory Processes

“My son has been going to A Way To Learn for over a year now. We were recommended by a respected friend. During that time, my son has shown growth academically and in organizing his routines. I feel that the instructors at A Way to Learn are attentive, personable, and very professional. Being a former NY teacher and a person who has children with challenges, I have had exposure to many teaching styles and approaches on managing children emotionally and academically. I truly believe that anyone who comes to A Way to Learn to “Learn”, WILL come out more fortunate!!!”
